Monday, our third-party provider went down with a critical infrastructure outage. By day two we needed a website.

No copy of the site existed anywhere. The provider was unreachable, so the design went down with them. The Wayback Machine was the only surviving record of what our own site looked like. I rebuilt from the archive.

Two hours later a working site was live. Three days later it wasn't a restoration anymore, it was a redesign.

Day four, the provider came back. We kept the new site.
